I know now how the IBM CEO feels ! The CEO of IBM is one of the sponsors of The Masters but even though other IBM CEO sponsors in the past have been given membership, this woman CEO who is also a golfer, is not allowed to be a member at Augusta. I too was told I could not play at Worcester Golf Course (Baughton Park) today. No ladies are allowed on the course on a Saturday until after 4pm, I was told! These rules are so outdated in this day and age and no wonder “golf” is sometimes depicted as an “old man’s game!”
I was contacted recently concerning the use of new drivers with the weights in the head. The question was …….. ”Is a player allowed to alter the settings of the head as the round of golf is in play, or do they need to set it and then play all 18 holes as is? If it can be altered it would be like having extra clubs in your bag. …….”
The answer is:
Rule 4-2a is quite clear on this subject.
During a stipulated round, the playing characteristics of a club must not be purposely changed by adjustment or any other means.
Penalty for making a stroke with a club in breach of Rule 4-2 – Disqualification
Tewkesbury Park golf course is shut again, snow has cleared but ground now hard and very frosty. Shame, I was looking forward to a game of golf in the cold but sunny conditions.
No excuse now, back to work and to choose what stock to order for my www.ladygolfer.uk.com online shop for next Winter. Anyone got a crystal ball? What will ladies want to order for next winter?
I am pouring through brochures from Daily Sports, Glenmuir, Rohnish and Ping trying to choose what ladies golf clothes to order for my www.ladygolfer.uk.com online website for next Autumn/Winter 2012. It is really quite difficult to order for next season’s golf clothing six months in advance. All the ranges are beautiful. Good quality fabrics which have stretch, warmth and modern designs. I will probably spend too much money so I hope Lady Golfer’s customers will be tempted to buy.
Saturday 4th February saw the first snow falling for the year in Gloucestershire but it didn’t last long. The next day after a cold and foggy morning it all cleared. Golf was cancelled at my club, along with toboggans!
Friday 10th February – more snow and Tewkesbury Park golf course is closed.

Played a practice round at The Vale Golf Club at Evesham today ready for our Mail on Sunday first round match next Tuesday. Not good and because of the hard frosty conditions all the greens were temporaries and the ball bounced everywhere off the rock hard ground. Hope Tewkesbury Park win next Tuesday.
Tues 24th January: Due to heavy rain the course is closed at The Vale so a new match date will have to be arranged.
Attended the Auction Room of Philip Serrell in Malvern yesterday where Paul Martin was hosting the filming of “Flog It.” I accompanied my friend and neighbour Alex to the Auction as she was selling some jewelry which had been chosen by the BBC production team to be sold. Very interesting to see how it was filmed which will be broadcast sometime in June. Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to hold up a banner advertising my Lady Golfer website!!
Seen here is Paul Martin the presenter of “Flog It” with Alex being filmed as her items were being sold. Also pictured is Christina Trevanion, one of the expert valuers. Christina is head of the Jewellery Department at Halls in Shrewsbury.
Had a lovely game of golf today. Wednesday is our ladies competition day at Tewkesbury Park and it was a texas scramble. The weather was great, mild, sunny and no wind. I played with Glo (handicap 13), and Jean (handicap 14) and with my handicap of 12 our total for the round was 68.1. I’ll have to find out if it was a winning score!
